Leslie Browne is an American ballet dancer and actress, born Lesli Brown in 1957 in New York City. Leslie Browne is the daughter of a couple of dancers, Kelly Kingman Brown (1928-1981) and Isabel Mirrow Brown. She began dancing at the age of seven, in her father's studio in Arizona, with her brother Ethan and sister Elisabeth. She received a scholarship to study at the School of American Ballet, before joining the renowned New York City Ballet. She notably starred in the dance films The Turning Point (1977) and Nijinsky (1980), directed by Herbert Ross, her godfather. In 1977, at the age of 17, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Emilia Rodgers in The Turning Point. She guest-starred on the television series Happy Days. In 1976, she joined the American Ballet Theatre as a soloist, becoming a principal dancer in 1986. She retired from the company in 1993.
