Verónica Forqué, full name Verónica Forqué Vázquez-Vigo, born December 1, 1955 in Madrid and died December 13, 2021 in the same city, is a Spanish actress best known for her role as Kika, the eponymous character in Pedro Almodóvar's 1994 film. In 1999, she received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts from the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports. Verónica Forqué won four Goya Awards during her career: two for Best Actress (including one for Kika in 1994) and two for Best Supporting Actress. In September 2005, she was a member of the jury at the San Sebastian Film Festival, chaired by Anjelica Huston. Not hiding her depressive episodes that she had been battling for years, she was found dead by suicide at her Madrid home on December 13, 2021.
